Vollmer Angus Ranch (VAR) was started in 1952 by Alvin and Verna Vollmer, Allen’s parents. The family owned and operated ranch is located in the Couteau region of ND where the tall-grasses and the short-grasses of the prairie meet. Nearly all of the forage and feed needed for the cowherd is raised right here at the ranch. Cell grazing and no-till farming are important production elements of VAR, a past recipient of the Achievement Award for the Burleigh Co. Soil Conservation District.

VOLLMER ANGUS RANCH SALE: SUPERIOR GENETICS, RESILIENT HERD

The foundation of the operation rests upon the Vollmer Angus Ranch (VAR) cowherd, which consistently produces this remarkable offering year after year. These mother cows epitomize dedication, braving harsh conditions from deep snow to scorching summer days, yet persistently fulfill their duties. Generations of breeding for adaptability have honed these females’ ability to thrive in their environment, consistently achieving exceptional results with minimal resources.

This sale encompasses a remarkable assortment of two-year-old bulls, yearling bulls, as well as registered and commercial open females. These animals exhibit exceptional quality in both phenotype and genotype, featuring substantial sire groups comprising half-siblings from premier herd sires within the breed. The offering includes a select group of mature bulls, while the registered heifer selection presents a chance to acquire top-tier females from the replacement pen’s elite. The commercial heifers represent an outstanding group, matched by the quality, performance, and industry-leading EPDs of the yearling bulls, which form the bulk of the sale. All bulls and heifers are fully guaranteed.

The Vollmer Angus Ranch sale presentation will showcase its offerings in spacious pens at the sale site on the sale day, ensuring optimal viewing and assessment opportunities. Additionally, prospective buyers are welcome to visit the ranch at their convenience before the sale for viewing.
