UPSTREAM RANCH HISTORY

Upstream Ranch values our many friends and customers that have developed during our many years in the Hereford business. I am a 4th generation Hereford breeder with my great-grandfather, JD Meeks, who originated our Hereford herd in the early 1900s in Texas. My grandfather, Alfred, moved his family and cowherd from Dalhart, Texas to our present location at the Upstream Ranch back in 1955. I’m very proud of the fact that we have been greatly involved in this great breed for such a long time.

UPSTREAM RANCH GOAL & MISSION

Our goal and mission at the Upstream Ranch is to produce moderately framed, thick-made, fast-growing, efficient cattle that will be profitable in the commercial cattle industry. We always try to produce productive cattle with a solid balance between calving ease, efficient growth, strong maternal traits with a heavy emphasis on udder quality, and improved carcass traits. We have emphasized the improvement of carcass traits in our herd and I think the carcass EPDs for this set of sale cattle are pretty impressive.

The Hereford business is in a very exciting time. The breed has made fabulous improvement over the past decade and I feel that trend will continue. Our genetic goal has always been to balance phenotype, EPDs, and pedigree acceptance into a high-quality product. Integrity and a no-nonsense approach to raising cattle, something I learned from my Grandfather, will be our focus at Upstream Ranch. Soundness and problem-free production are our top priorities in our cow herd.

I feel this is our strongest sale offering to date. The bull offering is deep in quality. At this sale, buyers will have the opportunity to sort through many stout, thick-made bulls with breed-leading EPDs. All the bred heifers offered in this production sale are ultrasounded safe in calf to calve in April. These heifers were picked from the heart of our replacements.

Call if we can answer any questions about the offering or the cow herd. We cordially invite you to be with us on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024, for lunch and a viewing of an offering we’re proud to present. If you cannot be present at our sale we are excited to present it live on Superior Click to Bid and DV Auction will be broadcasting it live.
