BREEDING PHILOSOPHY: UNLOCKING THE POWER OF CROSSBREEDING

River Creek Farms has honed a distinct cattle breeding philosophy that capitalizes on the potential of crossbreeding to enhance genetic diversity and overall herd profitability. With a legacy spanning five generations, River Creek Farms approaches their cowherd management as a strategic business endeavor. Central to their approach is the cultivation of genetics that not only thrive but excel on native grasses, ensuring sustainability and long-term viability.

RIVER CREEK FARMS 4-YEAR GUARANTEE

At River Creek Farms, every bull purchase is backed by a comprehensive four-season guarantee, underscoring their commitment to customer satisfaction and confidence in their breeding program. This guarantee encompasses breeding viability and semen quality, providing assurance to buyers regarding the performance and reliability of their investment. Should any issues arise concerning semen or feet health, River Creek Farms offers credit for the remaining breeding seasons, reaffirming their dedication to stand behind the quality of their livestock. The credit is calculated based on the purchase price minus salvage value, with a 25% reduction for each completed breeding season. Foot health is covered, excluding issues caused by illness, foot rot, or other bulls. A veterinary statement is required for semen tests or soundness assessments, confirming the bull’s good health and condition.

RIVER CREEK FARMS: A LEGACY OF EXCELLENCE & INNOVATION

River Creek Farms proudly traces its roots back to 1890 when Sherman and Mary Mertz established the foundation of what would become a legacy of superior animal husbandry. Over 125 years, the name River Creek Farms has become synonymous with excellence in cattle breeding. Evolving from a modest herd of purebred Angus and Hereford cattle, River Creek Farms is now one of the nation’s foremost Simmental and SimAngus herds. Upholding the guiding principles of calving ease, disposition, and emphasis on end-product value, River Creek Farms continues to blend tradition with progress, harnessing hybrid vigor to achieve unparalleled success in the cattle industry.
