FOCUS: RAISE FUNCTIONAL CATTLE AS SITUATIONS DEMAND
On behalf of everyone involved, I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to our 8th Annual CK Cattle & Wager Cattle Bull and Heifer Simmental, SimAngus, & Angus Production Sale! I can’t thank our customers enough for their continued support of our program over the years. I say it every year, but I truly do enjoy visiting with customers every day and listening to the success reports. There is no doubt that the cow-calf producer is in the driver’s seat moving forward!
CATTLE DEMAND & GENETICS DO MATTER
Low cow numbers and high demand for beef as a protein for our consumers equates for great times. A good friend of mine that buys more than his fair share of feeder cattle told me that no matter what, good genetics still shine through and demand premiums regardless the market. I’ve shared some of the data on a few cattle in the catalog and it’s been quite exciting to see how our genetics perform for our customers. The humbling part of this data is we were informed by the feeders and the fat cattle buyers to tell the ranchers to not change a thing! With all that being said, we are not complacent with where we are from a breeding program standpoint. I find myself constantly contemplating, “how do we make them better, and how do we make more better ones for our valued customers”.
HOW TO IMPROVE BREEDING FOR VALUED CUSTOMERS
This is a constant goal for our breeding program, and it is our unwavering commitment to deliver annually. There is not a lot of forgiveness on the cows that stand behind this bull offering. We still emphasize fertility, feet, udder, disposition and one that fits “the look”. If the cow does her job, everything falls into place. The bulls and females in this sale are a product that we are very proud of. We haven’t pushed any of them hard and let the genetics do the work. The females were developed on a 44 megacalorie diet as calves, bred the early part May and were sent to grass. We are firm believers the cattle are meant to convert grass to pounds. The bulls will have scrotal measurements, adjusted yearling weights and ultrasound data on a supplement sheet the week prior to the sale. As always, we will guarantee the bulls to pass a breeding soundness exam and will deliver them to you in the spring. The bred heifers will be re-examined to be safe in calf a few days before the sale and will sell that way. Feel free to call anytime you want and visit about the offering. More importantly, we want you to come and look at the cattle, and learn how we can enhance your herd. Thank you for your consideration in our program and we hope to see you February 16th, 2025 in Highmore! Watch and Bid Online with DV Auction or CCI Live.
