Hello from the Glacial Ridge! We hope this letter finds you and your family well. As we look back at this past year and forward to a new one,
we must realize we are truly blessed. It is also a good time to reflect and calibrate each aspect of our operation; what is working and what needs improvement.
EXAMPLE OF CONTINUOUS HERD IMPROVEMENT
For example, a few years ago we still felt the need to put out creep feeders a couple of weeks before weaning to help them transition onto feed, but we were getting some toe ulcers in the bulls about a month later. Since we quit that practice, I am happy to say that it is no longer an issue. I strongly believe in seldom using the phrase “That’s how we have always done it”.
