HCC cattle are raised in real-world situations, the same as those of our bull customers.
The severe drought of 2021, wild spring storms of 2022, and more drought this past fall continue to take their toll. The limited supply of available feed and stressed environments force us to make hard culling and breeding decisions, selecting cattle with doability, longevity, efficiency, performance, and the ability to not only survive in these conditions but to thrive. The bulls in this sale are backed by genetics that stand up to these tests from Mother Nature. Our registered herd is managed the same as our commercial herd – no short cuts, no free rides.
The result is a set of bulls that hold up for many breeding seasons and sire calves that will top the feeder sales and make easy-keeping replacement females. There are 81 Lim-Flex bulls in this year’s offering. These bulls excel in growth, maternal, and carcass genetics. Because HCC believes in the value of quality data, we continue to be enrolled in the North American Limousin Foundation’s Limousin Inventory Management Program (LIMS).
This means all bulls sell with a complete set of performance records and EPDs. Many bulls have also been DNA tested for coat color and horn/polled status. Most of those DNA results will be available on the supplement sheet. Birth, weaning, and yearling weights are reported in the catalog. Ultrasound data and scrotal information will be available on a supplement sheet.
